THE DOOR OPENER - "YOUR RESUME"
A well-written resume demonstrates your communications skills. It speaks volumes about your capabilities, or lack of them. Make sure you get it right. Here on some tips on getting it right.

· Capture the reader's attention.

· Make sure it is aesthetically pleasing, not cluttered.

· Tailor your resume to what the interviewer is seeking.

· Use keywords or buzz words in your industry.

· Keep it short. Don't put them to sleep.

· Include your name, address, phone numbers, and email address at the top.

· Include an objective and a summary of qualifications.

· Always list your work history in reverse chronological order. (10 years is adequate)

· Include your education. It is not necessary to include the year completed.

· Do not include anything personal.

· Proofread your resume!

· Never lie!

There are many excellent resources on preparing your resume, including resume services, books, as well as software and online services. Be sure your finished resume isn't straight out of the book, or the exact template of a commonly used software application. Use these sources as guides. Interviewers don't want cookie-cutter resumes.
